COMPUTING
At St. Osmund’s Catholic Primary School we aspire to provide our pupils with the ability to understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science. We believe that a high quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world.
We want our pupils to grow up to be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.
We believe that this can be best achieved by teaching computing knowledge explicitly and then once children are competent weave all strands of computing throughout our broad and balanced curriculum and providing opportunities to apply, consolidate and practise their computing knowledge, skills and understanding.
Through computing units we use knowledge organisers and quizzing to ensure children remember more and are able to retrieve previously learned content.
Please see our Purple Mash Long term Plans for further detail.
Online Safety
At St Osmund's, we take the safety of our children very seriously. As children spend an ever-increasing proportion of time online outside of school, we thought these advice sheets might be of use to parents. However, the teaching of online safety is further incorporated within our Health and Well-being Curriculum.
