Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross are one of the most important parts of our School Church Calendar.

The stations depict the journey Jesus made from being condemned to death by Pontius Pilate, to his crucifixion and death on Calvary Hill, ending in his resurrection.

Every Catholic Church has depictions of the Stations of the Cross on display, and during the season of Lent, it is normal for parishioners to walk 'The Way of the Cross' with Jesus on this journey, praying and reflecting at each 'station'.

At St Osmund's every year, we create our own Stations of the Cross gallery in school for the children and parishioners to view and pray together.  The children and teachers work together to make a representation of the Station in a way that is meaningful to them.

Over the years we have depicted the Stations in different ways and more recently we even created an outdoor Stations of the Cross which is on display all year round, using broken tiles.  Each class made their own!
