School Chaplains

Chaplaincy Team

At St. Osmund's, we take leadership seriously and know that even very young children can be fantastic leaders. We know we are called to share our unique gifts and we can do this together in many small ways every day. Our Chaplains are a creative and joyful group of children who are keen to lead the prayer and  Catholic mission of our school family. The school Chaplains play a vital role in the Prayer life and Catholic life of our school and are supported by our Parish Priest, Fr Joseph and the Chaplaincy Lead, Miss Windsor.

The Chaplains have many important roles including:

  • Being an influencer to all children in living a life of faith
  • Developing positive relationships within and beyond the school community
  • Leading prayer and reflections in prayer groups at lunchtimes
  • Planning and leading Celebration of the Word in class
  • Assisting in the organisation of school masses and liturgies
  • Helping plan and lead charity events
  • To continue to develop strong links with the Parish
  • To support the school in its Mission Statement

Emmaus Partnership Project 2025

'Cupcake Fundraising Sale'

St. Osmund’s Catholic Primary School is part of the Emmaus Partnership which links the 33 Clifton Diocese schools. The Emmaus Partnership, have set themselves the task of fundraising to provide water for the children of 22 schools in the Masaka district of South West Uganda to meet their wash needs; for drinking, cleaning, cooking and the irrigation of their tree nurseries.

Our pupil Chaplaincy Team, have met to discuss how they could fundraise for this important mission. The Chaplaincy all agreed that they were not prepared to live in a world where children either have to walk several miles to collect drinking water or suffer illness and time off school because the water they have is unclean. They have chosen to run weekly ‘Cupcake sales’ to raise money.

 Chaplaincy Commissioning Day

Members of the school Chaplaincy Team went to meet the Bishop to be commissioned. They received their badges and met other children, who are chaplains, from other schools. They join the Chaplaincy team and have strengthened our Chaplaincy in school.

Daily Prayer Group

Our Chaplaincy Team meet regularly to plan and delivery a daily Prayer Group at lunchtime, as well as leading Celebration of the Word in their own class daily. The Chaplaincy Team set up a rota each term and run fun activities and Worship in a designated special prayer area on our school library bus on the playground. This area is accessible to all children before and after school, and at lunchtimes.

A big part of what the Chaplaincy Team do is consider how we can work towards a better understanding of social justice in the UK; issues such as local poverty and inequality, each year now your Chaplaincy Team lead a shoebox appeal for Christmas to help those in Salisbury who might not be able to afford some of the items we sometimes take for granted.
