Ofsted Report

Please see below our most recent inspection report following a monitoring visit by Ofsted on 26th and 27th March 2024.

In regards to our school, the inspector said that 'Pupils at St Osmund’s belong to a diverse and vibrant community where heritage and culture are celebrated.  The school is welcoming, providing a rich range of experiences and opportunities for pupils to develop character. There are high expectations of pupils. These expectations are matched with kindness and warmth. Staff and pupils understand and reflect the school’s values of ‘love for God, love for each other, love for learning’.

It is wonderful to hear that the inspector was very impressed with St Osmund's.  Notably the curriculum offer for all children, including those with Special Educational Needs, and the pupil's retention of what they have learned.  The curriculum for reading was seen as a real strength at the school, including the way the school supports its children to develop a love of reading.

The inspector said that there is a relentless drive from school leaders and governors to monitor and develop the curriculum to ensure it is successfully implemented.

As always, there are things that we can do even better and part of the inspection process is to leave the school with some development points.  While there is a great deal of good work going on across the curriculum, the inspector left us with one development point, which is to ensure that in all subjects, there is a consistent approach to the way staff assess what children know, before moving onto new learning.
